Captain John C. Raaen landed on Omaha Beach with Hq's Company, 5th Ranger Battalion on D-Day. His mission would take him overland to help relieve the besieged Rangers at Pointe du Hoc, and later breakthrough Grandcamp and capture the Maisy Batteries. You can read his testimony on this website.
